Bethan Jones

My name is Bethan Jones and I am a PhD student at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton (NOCS). For the past four years I’ve been investigating single celled phytoplankton that are present in the top layers of the ocean and play a large role in global climate and photosynthesis. I am particularly interested in how marine organisms may respond to changes in ocean chemistry caused by increased CO2 and the impact that this could have on marine ecosystems. I usually work in a biochemistry laboratory at NOCS but sometimes go to sea to carry out further experiments.
