Sonia Blanco-Ameijeiras

My name is Sonia Blanco-Ameijeiras. In October 2008, I arrived to the National Oceanographic Centre Southampton (NOCS), coming from Galicia, to start an European MSc programe in Marine Environment and Resources. For the last year I have been working on the master’s project, studying the intraspecific variability in physiological and biogeochemical properties of the cosmopolitan coccolithophorid Emiliania huxleyi. My interests are focused in physiological responses of calcium carbonate-producing phytoplankton to environmental change and its impact on the carbon cycle and marine ecosystems. This is my first time taking part in experiments carried out at sea
