28th May : Deployment of the CTD by night

Photo from the CTD deployment last night on which was attached
one of the National Geographic video cameras to film it underwater.

28th May 2010 : We reach the first station at (45°N 12°W) at 22:00 PM and commence our
incubations with waters from different depths. Before deploying the CTD
we realise that one of the Niskin bottles is missing one crucial part
controlling the closure of the water flow. Luckily we found a
replacement so the CTD cast started at ~22.30. The CTD cast was
successful in that all fired bottles were closed at the desire depths.
The bottles are now in the incubators. Mario, Bethan, Sonia and I have
been working all night and we are ready to get some sleep.
